The Nigeria-Gambia Business Council is built for businesses of every shape and size. Whether you are a multinational corporation with operations across West Africa, a small business exploring your first cross-border trade, an academic institution tracking the region's economic development, or an international investor looking for the right entry point — NGBC has a membership category designed with you in mind.

Corporate Member

Designed for registered companies — both Nigerian and Gambian — with established operations, formal management structures, and a strategic interest in the bilateral trade corridor. Corporate Members enjoy the full range of NGBC benefits and are eligible for leadership roles within the Council. Best for: Mid-size to large companies, multinationals, and established SMEs with formal corporate status.

SME Member

Small and medium-sized enterprises are the engine of both economies, and NGBC was built with SMEs in mind. SME Membership offers the same community access and trading opportunities as Corporate Membership, with a fee structure and support services calibrated to the realities of growing businesses. Best for: Small and medium-sized enterprises registered in Nigeria or The Gambia.

Institutional Member

Open to non-commercial organisations — including trade associations, chambers of commerce, universities, research institutions, and professional bodies — whose work intersects with the NGBC's mandate. Institutional Members contribute expertise, research, and analytical capacity to the Council community. Best for: Chambers of commerce, trade bodies, universities, think tanks, and professional associations.

Honorary Member

Awarded by the Board of Trustees to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to bilateral trade between Nigeria and The Gambia, or to the broader promotion of West African economic integration. Honorary Membership is a recognition of distinction, not a paid category. Awarded by: The Board of Trustees — nomination only.

Observer Member

Observer Membership is designed for organisations or individuals who wish to remain connected with NGBC's work and community without the full commitments of active membership. Observers receive Council communications, may attend selected events, and can transition to full membership when ready. Best for: Organisations exploring whether NGBC is the right fit, or entities in a transition period.

Affiliated Member

Open to international businesses, diaspora organisations, and foreign entities with a genuine interest in the Nigeria-Gambia trade corridor. Affiliated Membership recognises that the opportunity here is not limited to organisations based in the two countries — our corridor is part of a global conversation about African trade.

HOW TO APPLY

Joining NGBC Is Simple

We have made the application process as straightforward as possible. Here is how it works:

Step 1: Choose Your Membership Category
Review the six membership categories above and identify the one that best fits your organisation. Not
sure? Contact the Secretariat — we are happy to help you decide.
Step 2: Complete the Application Form
Download the NGBC Membership Application Form or complete it online [PLACEHOLDER: online
form link]. The form asks for basic information about your organisation, your business interests, and
your areas of activity.
Step 3: Submit Your Application
Send your completed form and any supporting documents to the Secretariat at admin@ngbc.com, or

Step 4: Review and Approval
The Secretariat will review your application, verify your details, and bring it to the appropriate
authority for approval. You will be contacted within [PLACEHOLDER: number] business days.
Step 5: Pay Your Membership Dues
Once approved, you will receive an invoice for your membership dues and payment instructions. See

Step 6: Welcome to NGBC!
You will receive your Certificate of Membership, access to the Member Directory, and an onboarding
communication with everything you need to get started.

Q1: Who can join NGBC?

NGBC membership is open to businesses, institutions, and individuals with a genuine interest in trade
and investment between Nigeria and The Gambia, or in the broader West African market. This
includes companies based in Nigeria, companies based in The Gambia, international businesses and
investors, academic and research institutions, trade bodies, and diaspora organisations. If you are not
sure whether you qualify, contact us — we would rather have a conversation than turn someone away.

Q2: Can international companies (outside Nigeria and The Gambia) join?

Yes, absolutely. Affiliated Membership is specifically designed for international businesses, diaspora
organisations, and foreign entities interested in the Nigeria-Gambia trade corridor. NGBC recognises
that the opportunity here attracts global interest, and we welcome international members who share
our vision.

Q3: How long does the application and approval process take?

Once the Secretariat receives a complete application, we aim to process and confirm membership
within 3 business days. The Secretariat will keep you informed throughout
the process and reach out if any additional information is needed.

Q4: Is NGBC membership only for large companies?

Not at all. NGBC has a specific SME Membership category because we believe small and medium-sized
enterprises are central to the mission of the Council. Our events, services, and resources are designed
to be genuinely useful to growing businesses — not just established multinationals

Q5: What is the difference between Observer and Affiliated Membership?

Observer Membership is typically suited to organisations or individuals who want to engage with
NGBC’s work and community while they explore whether full membership is right for them — it is a
lighter-touch, entry-level connection to the Council. Affiliated Membership is a full membership
category for international or diaspora entities with a substantive interest in the corridor, offering the
same engagement opportunities as other full membership types.

Q6: Can I upgrade my membership category later?

Yes. Members are welcome to upgrade their membership category as their business grows or their
engagement with the corridor deepens. Contact the Secretariat to discuss a category change at any
time.
